Whenever LifeWise processes a claim submitted by you or your healthcare provider, we explain how we processed it in the form of an Explanation of Benefits (EOBs).
An EOB is not a bill. It’s simply a statement that explains how your benefits were applied to that claim. It includes the date you received the service, the amount billed, the amount covered, the amount we paid and any balance you’re responsible for paying the provider. It also tells you how much has been credited toward any required deductible.
Each time you receive an EOB, review it closely and compare it to the receipt or statement from the provider. To help in this task, here’s an explanation of the EOB form, item by item.
There’s a lot of information packed into the EOB. We organized it all so you can quickly find what matters most to you. Your EOB contains 3 items:

Understanding Your LifeWise Monthly Bill
Before diving into payment methods, let’s clarify what we’re talking about. LifeWise refers to your monthly health insurance payment as a “premium” or “invoice.” This bill is typically mailed to subscribers (primary policyholders) and is due on the first of each month.
Your first invoice will arrive shortly after enrollment and includes all the info you’ll need to make payments, including your subscriber ID – which is super important for most payment methods.
Online Payment Options
In my opinion, online payments are def the way to go in 2025. LifeWise offers two convenient online payment options
One-Time Online Payments
- Sign in to your online account
- If you don’t have an account yet, you’ll need to create one
- Once signed in, look for the payment buttons
- Make sure pop-ups are enabled (more on this later)
- Follow the prompts to complete your payment
Autopay (Recurring Payments)
This is my personal fave – set it and forget it!
- Sign in to your online account
- Look for “Manage Recurring Payments”
- Set up autopay with your preferred payment method
- Payments will automatically draft on the 28th of each month
Important Tip You must set up autopay by the 23rd of the month for it to take effect the following month I learned this the hard way last year!
Payment by Phone
Not comfortable with online payments? No worries! You’ve got phone options
- Call 866-327-8016 to use the automated payment system
- Have your subscriber ID ready
- Follow the prompts to complete your payment
Alternatively, you can call the customer service number on your ID card, but remember they can’t take payments directly – they’ll direct you to the automated system.
Traditional Check Payments
Some of us still prefer the good old check payment method, and LifeWise has you covered:
- Write your member ID on your check
- Detach the payment coupon from your invoice (bottom of page 1)
- Include it with your check in the provided envelope
- Mail to:

Bank Bill Pay System
This option lets you pay directly through your bank’s online bill pay service:
- Access your bank’s online bill pay system
- Have your subscriber ID ready
- Select “LifeWise Health Plan of Washington” as the payee
- Use this EXACT address (super important!):

I can’t stress enough how important using the exact address is – if you don’t, your payment might not process correctly!

What Happens If You Miss a Payment
Life gets busy, and sometimes bills slip through the cracks. Here’s what happens if you miss a payment:
- Your payment is due on the 1st of each month
- If you receive a subsidy, you have a 90-day grace period
- Coverage continues through the last month LifeWise receives a subsidy payment
- You may not have access to benefits during months 2 and 3 of grace period
- If you don’t receive a subsidy (including off-exchange plans), you get a 30-day grace period
Potential Consequences
- If you voluntarily cancel your plan, you might not be able to enroll in another until the next open enrollment period (unless you have a qualifying life event)
- If you have unpaid premiums and try to reenroll with LifeWise, you may have to pay unpaid premiums from the past 12 months
Special Considerations
Can’t Afford Your Premium?
If your income changes and impacts your ability to pay, you have options:
- Report your income change to Washington Healthplanfinder at their website or by calling 855-923-4633
- You might qualify for:
- Advance premium tax credits (subsidies)
- Low-cost or no-cost coverage from the state
Cancelling Your Plan
- If you purchased directly from LifeWise: Call customer service at 800-817-3056
- If you purchased through Washington Healthplanfinder: Call their support at 855-923-4633 (Note: LifeWise can’t cancel plans purchased through Healthplanfinder)
Who Can Pay Your Bill?
Not everyone can pay your LifeWise bill. Acceptable payers include:
- You (through a personal account, not business)
- Family members (spouse, parents, etc.)
- Indian tribes, tribal organizations, or urban Indian organizations
- State and federal government programs and their grantees
- Ryan White HIV/AIDS Programs
- LyfeBank
- Pierce County Project Access (for Healthplanfinder plans)
LifeWise cannot accept payments from:
- Sole proprietors or business accounts (even your own)
- Employers
- Charities
- Healthcare providers
If payment comes from a prohibited source, it will be returned, and you’ll need to resubmit using an accepted method.
Tips for Stress-Free Bill Management
After years of managing my own health insurance, here are my top tips:
- Set up autopay – It’s seriously the easiest way to ensure you never miss a payment
- Create calendar reminders – If you prefer manual payments, set reminders a few days before the due date
- Keep your contact info updated – Make sure LifeWise can reach you if there’s an issue
- Check your spam folder – Sometimes important billing notices end up there
- Fix pop-up blockers – For online payments, you need to allow pop-ups:
- iPhone/iPad: Settings → Safari → turn off “Block Pop-ups”
- Chrome: Three dots menu → Settings → Advanced → Site settings → Pop-ups and redirects → Switch to “Allowed”
- Firefox: Menu button → Options/Preferences → Privacy & Security → uncheck “Block pop-up windows”
Final Thoughts
Managing your LifeWise bill payments doesn’t have to be complicated. Whether you prefer the convenience of online payments, the simplicity of autopay, or the familiarity of paper checks, there’s a payment method that will work for your lifestyle.
I’ve found that setting up autopay and checking my account periodically gives me the best peace of mind. No more scrambling to make payments or worrying about missed bills!
