Alternative Payment Methods for Your Boca Raton Water Bill

Not everyone likes to pay bills online, and that’s totally fine! The city understands this and provides several alternative methods:

Sometimes, I prefer the peace of mind that comes with paying in person. You can visit Boca Raton City Hall located at:

By Mail

If you’re old-school like my parents, you can mail your payment using the pre-addressed return envelope that comes with your bill. Just remember to:

  • Include the proper portion of your bill with your payment
  • Never send cash through mail (checks are much safer!)
  • Allow enough time for mail delivery to avoid late fees

Understanding Your Boca Raton Water Bill

Before we dive deeper into payment methods, let’s take a moment to understand what you’re actually paying for. Your Boca Raton water bill typically covers:

  1. Water usage charges
  2. Sewer services
  3. Stormwater management fees
  4. Other applicable municipal fees

Your bill is calculated based on your actual water consumption, which is measured in units called gallons. The more water you use, the higher your bill will be.

Tips to Lower Your Boca Raton Water Bill

Since we’re talking about paying water bills, I thought I’d share some tips that have helped me reduce my monthly charges:

  1. Fix leaky faucets and toilets – Even small leaks can waste thousands of gallons over time
  2. Install water-efficient fixtures – Low-flow showerheads and toilets can make a big difference
  3. Adjust your irrigation schedule – Watering your lawn early morning or evening reduces evaporation
  4. Use native plants in landscaping – They require less water than non-native species
  5. Consider collecting rainwater – Use rain barrels to collect water for your garden

My neighbor saved almost $30 a month just by fixing a running toilet and replacing their old showerhead!

What to Do When You Can’t Pay Your Bill

We’ve all experienced tight financial periods. If you’re having trouble paying your Boca Raton water bill, don’t panic! Here are some options:

Payment Plans

The City of Boca Raton and PBCWUD often work with residents who are experiencing financial hardship. Don’t be afraid to call them and explain your situation – they’re usually willing to set up payment arrangements.

Assistance Programs

Palm Beach County offers emergency assistance programs for qualifying residents. The PBC Emergency Assistance program might be able to help if you’re facing a temporary financial crisis.

Communication is Key

Whatever you do, don’t ignore the bill! The worst approach is to avoid the situation. Contact the appropriate department before your service is interrupted:

  • City of Boca Raton: (561) 393-7700
  • PBCWUD Customer Service: 561-740-4600

Special Circumstances: Temporary Water Modification

It’s worth noting that there’s currently a Temporary Water Modification in effect from October 5 – 19, 2025. These occasional modifications are part of regular maintenance to ensure water quality remains excellent.

During these periods, you might notice slight changes in water taste or smell due to different treatment processes. This is completely normal and the water remains safe to drink. Your billing won’t be affected, but I thought it was important to mention since it’s currently happening.

Setting Up New Water Service in Boca Raton

If you’re new to Boca Raton (welcome!), you’ll need to set up your water service. Here’s how:

  1. Contact the appropriate water provider (City of Boca Raton or PBCWUD)
  2. Provide proof of residence (lease or purchase agreement)
  3. Pay any required security deposits
  4. Set up your preferred payment method

I recommend setting up automatic payments from the start – it’s one less thing to worry about during your move!
