Common Questions About Martin County Water Bills
When is my water bill due?
The due date is printed on your bill, but generally, Martin County water bills are due about 15 days after they’re issued. If you don’t pay by the due date, you risk late fees or even service disconnection.
What if there’s a problem with my bill?
If something doesn’t look right on your bill, don’t wait! Call the main office at (606) 298-3885 during business hours. The sooner you address it, the less likely you’ll face any penalties.
Can I set up automatic payments?
Unfortunatley, Martin County Water District doesn’t currently offer automatic recurring payments through their system. However, you might be able to set up recurring payments through your own bank’s bill pay service.
What if I’m having trouble paying my bill?
If you’re experiencing financial hardship, call the office before your bill is late. Sometimes they can work with you on a payment plan, especially if you’ve been a customer in good standing.
Using Your Bank’s Bill Pay Service
Many folks don’t realize they can pay their water bill through their own bank’s online bill pay feature. This is actually how I pay most months!
How it works:
- Log into your bank account online
- Set up Martin County Water as a payee
- Enter the payment address:
Martin County Water and Sanitation Districts
387 E Main St, Suite 140
Inez, KY 41224 - Schedule your payment
The good:
- No service fees from the water district
- Can schedule automatic recurring payments
- Pay multiple bills in one place
The not-so-good:
- May take up to 7 business days to process
- Your bank might charge its own fee (mine doesn’t)
- You need to set it up in advance
Important Things to Remember
No matter how you choose to pay your Martin County water bill, keep these tips in mind:
- Keep proof of payment – save confirmation numbers, take pictures of money orders, or get receipts
- Allow extra time – especially for mail or bank bill pay services
- Include your account number with every payment
- Check for water advisories regularly on the district’s website – as of October 13, 2025, there’s actually a boil water advisory for parts of Blacklog Road
My Personal Experience
I’ve lived in Martin County for over 15 years, and I’ve tried every payment method. For a while, I was mailing checks, but I kept forgetting until the last minute. Then I tried the drop box, which was convenient but made me nervous since there’s no immediate receipt.
Now I mostly use my bank’s bill pay service because there’s no fee and I can schedule it in advance. During months when I forget until the last minute, I’ll pay online through the water district’s portal – the convenience fee stinks, but it’s better than late charges!
Staying Informed About Your Water Service
One last thing that’s super important – Martin County occasionally has service interruptions or boil water advisories. As of writing this article (October 2025), there’s actually an advisory affecting customers from 4786 Blacklog Road to 5878 Blacklog Road and parts of Little Rockcastle Road.
You can check current alerts on the Martin County Water District’s website or sign up for notifications. This isn’t directly related to paying your bill, but it’s definitely important info for any water customer!
Final Thoughts
Paying your Martin County water bill doesn’t have to be a hassle. Whether you prefer doing things online, over the phone, by mail, or in person, there’s an option that’ll work for your schedule and preferences.
I personally recommend setting calendar reminders so you never forget a payment. Late fees add up fast and nobody wants to risk having their water shut off!
What about you? Which payment method do you prefer? Have you had any issues with the billing system? I’d love to hear your experiences!
Until next time, stay hydrated and keep that water flowing!
