What Happens If You Don’t Pay On Time?

The collection process at Saraland Water is quite structured:

1. Collection Attempt: A collector will visit your residence on the 21st to collect payment plus a $10 fee.

2. Blue Notice (for eligible accounts): If you’re not home or can’t pay, they’ll leave a blue notice on your door giving you 24 hours to pay without service interruption. This includes a $25 blue notice fee.

3. Expired Blue Notice: If you don’t pay within 24 hours, they’ll make a second attempt. If unsuccessful, they’ll lock your meter and charge additional fees (total fees reaching $55).

4. Money or Meter (MOM) Accounts: After three collections, your account becomes a MOM account. For these accounts, if payment isn’t made when the collector visits, your meter is immediately locked and a pink notice is left. This includes a $30 collection/unlock fee.

• Cannot pay returned checks with another check – must use cash or money order
• You’ll be contacted by phone and have until 1pm the next business day to resolve the issue

Third Returned Check/ACH Draft

If you have three returned payments, you’ll be prohibited from using checks or ACH drafts as payment methods for 12 months.
