Hey there, fellow NAEC members! I’ve been with North Arkansas Electric Cooperative for nearly 7 years now, and I’ve tried pretty much every payment method they offer Today I wanna share some tips that’ll make paying your NAEC bill as painless as possible
Let’s face it – nobody enjoys paying bills, but NAEC has actually made it pretty darn convenient. Whether you’re tech-savvy or prefer the old-school approach, there’s definitely an option that’ll work for you.
Quick Overview of NAEC Payment Methods
Before diving into details, here’s a quick look at your options:
- Quick Pay – No login required!
- Online Customer Portal – Full account management
- Auto Payments – Set it and forget it
- Phone Payments – For those who prefer talking to a real person
- In-Person Payments – Drop by the office
1. Quick Pay: The Fastest Way to Pay Your NAEC Bill
If you’re in a hurry and just wanna get your payment done ASAP, Quick Pay is your best friend. The best part? You don’t need to create an account or remember another password!
To use Quick Pay
- Visit https://portal.mynextfiber.com/billpay/GuestPayment
- Enter your email address
- Complete the reCAPTCHA verification
- You’ll receive a verification code to your email
- Enter the code and follow the prompts to complete your payment
I use this when I’m traveling and realize my bill is due soon. It takes less than 2 minutes, and I can do it from my phone while waiting in line for coffee.
2. Online Customer Portal: Complete Account Management
If you prefer having more control over your account, the Customer Portal is where it’s at. This is honestly my preferred method most of the time.
To access the portal:
- Go to https://billing.naeci.com/onlineportal/
- Sign in with your user ID and password
- From there, you can:
- View your current bill
- See your account history
- Schedule payments
- Update your billing method
- Monitor your usage
The portal also lets you view alerts about outages or other important info. I check mine every couple weeks just to keep an eye on my electricity usage, especially during summer when my AC is working overtime!
3. Set Up Auto Payments: Never Miss a Due Date
Listen, we’re all busy, and sometimes bills slip your mind. That’s why I switched to auto payments last year, and it’s been a game-changer.
To set this up
- Log in to the Customer Portal
- Go to “Billing & Payments”
- Select “Create Auto Payments”
- Choose your preferred payment method (credit/debit card or bank account)
- Select when you want payments to process
You can set it to pay automatically on the due date, or even a few days before if that makes you feel more comfortable. The system will send you an email confirmation whenever a payment processes.
I was a little nervous about automatic payments at first (what if there’s a mistake?), but NAEC’s system has been super reliable. Haven’t had a single issue in 14 months.
4. Phone Payments: Talk to a Real Person
If you’re old-school or just having trouble with the website, you can always call NAEC directly at 870-895-3221. Their customer service folks are actually pretty friendly (unlike some other utility companies I could mention!).
When calling, make sure you have:
- Your account number
- Payment information ready
The phone system will guide you through the payment process step by step. It’s a bit slower than the online methods, but sometimes it’s nice to know there’s a human helping you out.
5. In-Person Payments: Visit the NAEC Office
If you’re in the neighborhood, you can always stop by their office to pay in person:
Address: 225 South Main Street, Salem, Arkansas 72576
They accept cash, check, money order, or card payments at the counter. I don’t use this method often, but when my internet was down last winter, it was nice to have this option.
Bonus Tip: Operation Round Up
While not directly related to bill pay, I wanted to mention Operation Round Up. It’s this cool program where NAEC rounds your bill up to the nearest dollar, and the spare change goes to community programs and scholarships.
For example, if your bill is $83.87, it gets rounded up to $84, with that extra 13 cents going to good causes. It’s a small amount for us individually, but it adds up to make a big difference for the community.
You can join through the Customer Portal by clicking the “Join Round Up” button. I’ve been doing it for years and honestly don’t even notice the difference in my bill.
What To Do If You’re Having Payment Problems
We’ve all been there – sometimes money gets tight. If you’re struggling to pay your bill, don’t just ignore it! NAEC is actually pretty understanding if you reach out before things get too far behind.
Call them at 870-895-3221 to discuss payment arrangements or ask about assistance programs. They work with several community organizations that might be able to help.
My Personal Experience with NAEC Bill Pay
When I first moved to the area, I was mailing checks each month (I know, so 1990s of me!). Then I graduated to phone payments, and finally discovered the online portal.
Now I use auto-pay for my regular monthly bill, but I still check the portal every so often to monitor my usage. During the crazy heat wave last summer, my bill was almost double the normal amount! The usage history feature helped me see exactly when my consumption spiked, which led me to discover my AC unit needed maintenance.
Final Thoughts
NAEC has really made bill payment convenient with all these different options. My recommendation? Set up auto-pay for peace of mind, but still log in to the portal occasionally to keep an eye on things.
And if you ever have questions or run into problems, don’t hesitate to call them directly. Unlike some big utility companies, NAEC is local and their customer service reps are usually super helpful.
What about you? Which payment method do you prefer for your NAEC bill? Have any questions about setting up any of these options? Drop me a comment below, and I’ll do my best to help!
Frequently Asked Questions About NAEC Bill Pay
Is there a fee for paying my NAEC bill online?
Nope! NAEC doesn’t charge any fees for online payments, whether you’re using Quick Pay or the Customer Portal. That’s one thing I really appreciate about them compared to some other utilities that charge “convenience fees.”
How far in advance can I schedule a payment?
You can schedule payments up to 60 days in advance through the Customer Portal. This is great if you’re planning to be away from home or just want to organize your monthly expenses ahead of time.
What payment methods does NAEC accept?
NAEC accepts credit cards, debit cards, electronic checks (e-checks), and bank account payments. For in-person payments, they also accept cash, physical checks, and money orders.
What should I do if I forgot my Customer Portal password?
On the login page, there’s a “Forgot Password” link. Click that and follow the instructions to reset your password. You’ll need access to the email address associated with your account.
Can I pay multiple NAEC accounts with one payment?
Yes! If you have multiple accounts (like a home and a business), you can pay them all at once through the Customer Portal. Just log in, select “Pay Multiple Accounts” under the Payments section, and follow the instructions.
Is my payment information secure?
NAEC uses industry-standard encryption and security protocols to protect your payment information. I’ve been using their online payment systems for years without any security issues.
What happens if I miss a payment?
If you miss a payment, NAEC will typically send a reminder notice. If the bill remains unpaid, you may face late fees and eventually disconnection. If you know you’re going to have trouble paying on time, it’s best to contact them proactively to discuss options.
Remember, staying on top of your NAEC bill isn’t just about avoiding late fees – it’s about maintaining good standing with your essential electricity provider. Thankfully, with all these payment options, it’s easier than ever to pay on time, every time.

Enroll in Automatic Bank Draft
This convenient alternative to paying your electric bill through the mail ensures that your bill is paid on time each month, eliminates the cost of a first-class stamp and is excellent for members who are away from home for an extended period of time. Automatic Bank Draft is an electronic transfer from your bank account to the cooperative’s each month. With your permission, your bank will deduct the amount of your electric bill each month from your checking or savings account, free of charge. Participants will continue to receive an itemized statement of their electric bill each month. On the due date of the 14th, the amount of the bill will be deducted from your account and reflected on your bank statement. For more information about free automatic bank draft, call any one of our three offices.
