Many of us struggle with managing healthcare payments, but MyChart makes it pretty straightforward once you know the steps. I’ll walk you through everything you need to know about bill pay on the MyChart app.
What is MyChart?

- Message your doctor
- Schedule appointments
- Review test results

- Pay your medical bills
- And much more!
The mobile app gives you all these features on the go, making it super convenient to manage your healthcare from anywhere.
Getting Started with Bill Pay on MyChart
Step 1: Login to the MyChart App
First things first, you’ll need to download the MyChart app if you haven’t already. It’s available for both iOS and Android devices.
- Open the MyChart app on your smartphone or tablet
- Enter your MyChart username and password
- If you’ve set up biometric login, you can use Face ID or fingerprint for quicker access
Step 2: Navigate to the Billing Section
Once you’re logged in, you’ll land on your home dashboard. From here:
- Tap the three-line menu icon in the upper left corner
- Look through the menu options and select “Billing”
- This will take you to your billing summary where you can see your account balance
Step 3: Select the Account to Pay
On the billing summary screen, you’ll see any accounts with outstanding balances. Most people just have one overall account, but you might have separate balances for different facilities or providers within the same healthcare system.
Tap on the account you want to make a payment towards to see the details.
Step 4: Make Your Payment
After selecting an account, you’ll see the billing details including charges, insurance payments, and your remaining balance.
- Tap the “Pay Now” button
- The system will automatically show the full amount due, but you can change this if you want to make a partial payment
- Enter the payment amount you wish to pay
- Choose your payment method:
- Use a card you’ve saved previously
- Add a new credit/debit card
- Pay using a bank account
Step 5: Complete the Transaction
- Review all the payment details to make sure everything is correct
- Tap the “Pay” button to submit your payment
- Wait a moment while the system processes the transaction
- You’ll receive a confirmation notification when the payment goes through successfully
- The app will typically send a receipt to your email with the payment confirmation number
And that’s it! You’ve successfully paid your medical bill using the MyChart app.
