Post date |

Have you been struggling to figure out the best way to pay your water and sewer bill in Bucks County? We’ve all been there – that moment when the bill arrives and you’re wondering what’s the easiest way to handle it. Well I’m here to simplify everything for you! As a Bucks County resident myself I’ve explored all the payment options offered by the Bucks County Water and Sewer Authority (BCWSA) and want to share this knowledge with you.

The New Online Payment Portal: What You Need to Know

BCWSA recently launched an improved online bill pay service powered by InvoiceCloud This upgrade happened on November 14th and brings some exciting new features to make bill payment easier than ever

The new portal offers

  • 24/7 access to pay your utility bills through an easy-to-use interface
  • AutoPay functionality to help avoid late or missed payments
  • Pay by Text options for when you’re on the go
  • 24/7 automated Pay by Phone feature

Important note for existing AutoPay customers: If you were already enrolled in AutoPay before the upgrade, you’ll need to re-register with the new payment portal to continue automatic payments. BCWSA has been sending out notifications with instructions on how to complete this process.

All the Ways to Pay Your BCWSA Bill

1. Online Payment Portal

The online payment system is definitely the most convenient option for most people. It’s secure, simple, and completely paperless – which means less clutter in your home!

To use the online payment system:

  • Visit the BCWSA payment portal
  • Complete the online form
  • Choose your payment method (checking or savings account)
  • Set up recurring payments if desired

2. Pay by Phone

If you prefer to handle payments over the phone, BCWSA makes this super easy too. Just call 215-343-2538 x190 to access their automated payment system. This service is available 24/7, so you can take care of your bill whenever it’s convenient for you.

3. Direct Debit

Direct debit is perfect if you want payments to be automatic but prefer not to use the online portal. With this option, payments are automatically deducted from your checking or savings account.

To set up direct debit:

  1. Download the authorization form from the BCWSA website
  2. Complete the form with your banking information
  3. Submit it to BCWSA

4. Pay by Mail

Some folks still prefer the traditional method of mailing a check. If that’s you, BCWSA offers two different mailing addresses:

For the automated lockbox:
BCWSA
PO BOX 3895
Lancaster, PA 17604-3895

For the administrative office:
BCWSA
1275 Almhouse Road
Warrington, PA 18976

Don’t forget to include your bill stub with your payment!

What If I’m Having Trouble Paying My Bill?

Life happens, and sometimes paying bills on time becomes difficult. BCWSA understands this and offers several options for customers who are struggling financially:

Payment Arrangements

If you’re having trouble paying your bill, the first step is to call BCWSA at 215-343-2538. They can work with you to create a payment plan that fits your situation.

Military Assistance

BCWSA offers special billing privileges for those on active military duty, which may include reduced rates or abated bills. If you or a family member is in the military, it’s worth calling to see if you qualify for these benefits.

Financial Hardship Assistance

If you’re experiencing financial hardship, BCWSA may be able to help. Contact their office at 215-343-2538 for more information about available assistance programs.

What Happens If My Bill Becomes Past Due?

It’s important to understand the consequences of falling behind on your water and sewer payments:

  1. After 30 days past due, interest and penalties will be imposed at a rate of 10% penalty on the overdue balance plus 10% interest compounded annually.

  2. Accounts with past due balances greater than 45 days may face:

    • Municipal lien
    • Service termination
    • Additional fees for shutoffs and lien filings
  3. If your service is marked for termination, you’ll receive a 10-day notice posted at your service location. At this point, BCWSA may require:

    • Full payment of the balance, OR
    • A payment agreement requiring 50% of the balance immediately, with the remainder paid in 6 monthly installments (while continuing to pay current charges)

To avoid these situations, consider signing up for Direct Debit or AutoPay through the online portal.

Keeping Your Contact Information Updated

One thing many customers overlook is the importance of keeping their contact information current with BCWSA. This is crucial because in rare emergency situations like “boil water” notices, main breaks, or environmental violations, BCWSA needs to be able to reach you quickly.

You can update your contact information through the BCWSA website or by calling their customer service line.

Customer Service Hours and Contact Information

If you have questions about your bill or need assistance with any BCWSA service, their customer service team is available:

  • Hours: Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm
  • Phone: 215-343-2538
  • Extended billing question hours: 8am to 8pm

For billing questions specifically, you can also contact them through their website.

My Personal Experience with BCWSA Bill Payment

I’ve been a Bucks County resident for several years now, and I’ve tried most of these payment methods. Personally, I find the AutoPay option through the online portal to be the most convenient – it literally allows me to “set it and forget it.” I had to re-register when they switched to the new InvoiceCloud system last November, but the process was pretty straightforward.

One time, I did fall behind on my payments after an unexpected medical expense. I was worried about having my service cut off, but when I called BCWSA, they were actually very understanding and helped me set up a payment plan that worked with my budget. The customer service rep was super helpful and didn’t make me feel judged at all.

Pro Tips for Managing Your BCWSA Bill

Here are some tips I’ve learned along the way:

  1. Sign up for AutoPay – This is hands down the easiest way to ensure you never miss a payment. The peace of mind is worth it!

  2. Consider paperless billing – Not only is it better for the environment, but it also reduces clutter in your home. Plus, you’ll get email notifications when your bill is ready, which can serve as a helpful reminder.

  3. Keep your contact info updated – This is especially important if you move within Bucks County or change phone numbers.

  4. Don’t wait to call if you’re struggling – If you know you’re going to have trouble paying your bill, contact BCWSA proactively. They’re much more likely to work with you if you reach out before your account becomes delinquent.

  5. Check for leaks regularly – Unexpectedly high water bills can often be traced back to leaks. Keep an eye on your usage and investigate any sudden increases.

Understanding Your BCWSA Bill

Sometimes, the confusion isn’t about how to pay your bill but understanding what you’re actually paying for. Your BCWSA bill typically includes charges for:

  • Water usage
  • Sewer service
  • Any applicable fees or surcharges

If you ever notice unusual charges or have questions about your bill, don’t hesitate to contact BCWSA customer service. They can break down each charge and explain anything that seems unclear.

Final Thoughts

Managing your Bucks County water and sewer bill doesn’t have to be complicated. With multiple payment options available, you can choose the method that works best for your lifestyle and preferences.

Whether you prefer the convenience of online payments or the traditional approach of mailing a check, BCWSA has made it easy to stay on top of your utility payments. And if financial difficulties arise, remember that help is available – all you need to do is ask.

Have you tried the new InvoiceCloud payment system yet? What’s been your experience with BCWSA’s customer service? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
