The Ultimate Guide to Bountiful Utilities Bill Pay: Everything You Need to Know in 2025

Post date |

Bountiful City is dedicated to bringing Bountiful residents and businesses affordable, reliable power, not only for today, but well into the future.

Our expert team is proactive in making needed investments to assure dependable, high-quality power services at rates that are consistently more affordable than those of nearby cities and other service providers.

To fulfill this commitment, not only does Bountiful Power provide the power to light up your home today, team members are also hard at work behind the scenes, actively replacing aging power poles and underground power cables, upgrading substations, and taking needed steps to increase redundancy and dependability of our services.

Are you tired of the hassle that comes with paying your Bountiful utility bills? I’ve been there too! As a long-time Bountiful resident, I’ve experienced the evolution of our city’s utility payment systems over the years. Today, I’m sharing my comprehensive guide to make your life easier when it comes to handling those monthly bills.

What Services are Included in Bountiful Utilities?

Before diving into payment methods, let’s clarify what’s actually included in your Bountiful utilities bill. Bountiful City provides several essential services to residents, including:

  • Water service
  • Power service
  • Waste collection
  • Recycling services
  • Storm water management

All these services appear on a single monthly statement, which is convenient but can sometimes be confusing when trying to understand your charges.

Bountiful Utilities Payment Methods – More Options Than Ever!

Bountiful City has significantly improved its payment systems in recent years. Here are all the ways you can pay your utility bill in 2025:

Online Payments

The most convenient option for most residents is paying online through the Citizen Self Service portal. In August 2023, Bountiful launched a new and improved website to make managing utility services easier.

Important note: Even if you had an online account before August 2023, you need to reestablish your account due to the system upgrade. I learned this the hard way when I tried to log in using my old credentials!

To set up your account

  1. Visit the Bountiful Utilities website
  2. Click on “Pay My Bill / Access My Account”
  3. When directed to “MUNIS Self Services” page, click “log in”
  4. Click on “sign up” in the bottom right corner
  5. Follow prompts to establish your new account

Phone Payments

Bountiful recently introduced a new dedicated number for phone payments 877-819-7081

I’ve used this service a couple times when my internet was down, and it’s pretty straightforward

Auto Pay / Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)

This is my personal favorite method! Setting up automatic payments means I never worry about late fees or forgetting to pay.

To sign up for Auto Pay:

  • Fill out the “Signup for Auto Pay/EFT” form online
  • Or call 801-298-6100
  • Or visit City Hall in person

Drop Box Payments

For those who prefer traditional methods, Bountiful provides a drop box for utility payments at:

Location: City Hall, 795 South Main Street
Specific spot: Near the southeast parking lot entrance
Collection: Daily

⚠️ Warning: Don’t put cash payments or delinquent payments in the drop box! I made this mistake once, and it caused a major headache tracking down my payment.

In-Person Payments

You can also pay in person at Bountiful City Hall:

  • Address: 795 South Main Street, Bountiful, Utah 84010
  • Hours: Monday – Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Closed: Fridays, Weekends and Holidays

The extended hours (7am-6pm) are super helpful for working folks like me who can’t make it during typical 9-5 hours.

Understanding Payment Fees – Know What You’re Paying!

One thing that’s important to understand are the additional fees associated with different payment methods:

Payment Method Fee
Credit Card 3% of transaction
E-Check Online $1.25 per transaction
E-Check by Phone $1.65 per transaction
Cash No fee
Check No fee
EFT (Auto Pay) No fee

I personally switched to EFT to avoid all fees, saving me around $36 per year compared to credit card payments!

Go Paperless – Save Trees and Reduce Clutter

Bountiful Utilities now offers paperless billing, which I highly recommend. Since switching, my kitchen counter is no longer buried in bills, and I’m doing my small part for the environment.

You can sign up for paperless billing by:

  • Completing the “Go Paperless!” online form
  • Filling out the form in your April utility bill
  • Calling 801-298-6100
  • Visiting City Hall in person

Common Questions About Bountiful Utilities

What if I can’t pay my bill on time?

If you’re experiencing financial hardship, it’s best to contact the Utilities Department before your bill becomes delinquent. Sometimes they can work with you on payment arrangements.

How do I start or stop utility service?

When moving in or out of Bountiful, you’ll need to contact the Utilities Department directly to set up or terminate service. I recommend doing this at least a week before your move.

Why did my bill increase suddenly?

Sudden increases can result from:

  • Seasonal usage changes (especially with water in summer)
  • Rate adjustments
  • Leaks or malfunctioning appliances
  • Estimated readings being adjusted

When my bill doubled last summer, it turned out I had a leaky sprinkler system! The utilities staff actually helped me identify the problem.

What about solar power integration?

Bountiful Utilities provides resources for residents considering solar power. The utility website has a dedicated section with Solar FAQs that cover interconnection, net metering, and other important considerations.

Tips for Managing Your Bountiful Utilities Account

From my personal experience, here are some tips that might help you:

  1. Set calendar reminders – If you don’t use Auto Pay, set reminders a few days before due dates.

  2. Check for leaks regularly – A small leak can cause a big increase in your water bill.

  3. Monitor your usage patterns – Understanding your consumption helps identify abnormalities.

  4. Keep contact info updated – Ensure the Utilities Department can reach you if there’s an issue.

  5. Consider budget billing – Some utilities offer averaged payments throughout the year to avoid seasonal spikes.

My Experience with Bountiful Utilities Online System

When Bountiful first launched their online payment portal years ago, it was… well, let’s just say it had room for improvement. But the new system launched in August 2023 is significantly better.

The interface is more intuitive, pages load faster, and I can easily access my usage history. Setting up Auto Pay took me less than 5 minutes, and the paperless billing option was a simple checkbox during registration.

However, the system still has a few quirks. Occasionally, the site experiences slowdowns during peak payment periods (usually the last day before late fees apply). And some of the more advanced features, like detailed usage analytics, could be more user-friendly.

Final Thoughts

Managing utility bills isn’t the most exciting part of life in Bountiful, but the city has made significant strides in making the process as painless as possible. With multiple payment options, extended office hours, and an improved online system, residents have more flexibility than ever.

I particularly appreciate the city’s move toward paperless options and the helpful staff who are just a phone call away. While there’s always room for improvement, Bountiful Utilities has created a relatively smooth system for handling this necessary part of homeownership.

If you have any questions about your Bountiful utilities bill or payment options, don’t hesitate to contact the Utilities Department at 801-298-6100. They’re genuinely helpful and want to make sure you have a positive experience.
