Ever been stranded in Los Santos after a wild police chase because your mechanic won’t answer your calls? We’ve all been there! Keeping your mechanic happy is essential for surviving the mean streets of GTA Online. In this guide, I’ll explain everything you need to know about paying your mechanic bill and keeping your vehicles in tip-top shape
Understanding Your GTA Online Mechanic
After finishing the GTA 5 storyline and jumping into Online mode, you get access to a super handy mechanic contact. This NPC isn’t just a pretty face – he delivers your customized vehicles directly to your location and automatically fixes damaged rides. Pretty sweet deal, right?
But like everything in Los Santos these services don’t come free. Your mechanic charges a small fee for his services but don’t worry – it’s not gonna break the bank.
How Mechanic Payments Work in GTA Online
The good news? You don’t have to manually search for your mechanic and hand him cash. The system is completely automatic! Here’s the breakdown:
- The mechanic fee is $50 per in-game day
- This fee is deducted automatically every 48 minutes of real-time (one in-game day)
- You need to maintain at least $1000 cash on your character (not in the bank)
- The system automatically deducts the fee from your available cash
- No menus to navigate or calls to make for payment
It’s really a “set it and forget it” system. As long as you’re playing normally and earning money, the mechanic costs just vanish in the background without you having to think about it!
What Happens If You Miss Mechanic Payments?
We all fall on hard times occasionally. Maybe you went on a shopping spree at Legendary Motorsport or blew all your cash on ammunition. If your funds drop too low you’ll experience some consequences
- Your mechanic will stop delivering vehicles to you
- He won’t answer your calls at all
- You can’t get damaged vehicles repaired
- His services remain unavailable until you have enough cash
- Fees continue to accrue for each in-game day you don’t have the minimum cash
Basically, no money = no service. Your mechanic isn’t running a charity!
How to Pay Your Mechanic in GTA 5 Online
If your mechanic has stopped answering your calls, here’s how to get him back on your payroll:
- Press up on the d-pad to open your phone
- Go to the Internet Browser
- Select Money and Services
- Scroll down and choose Maze Bank
- Select Withdraw option
- Ensure you withdraw enough cash so you have at least $1000 on your character
- Wait 30 minutes to 1 hour in the open world for the next in-game day to pass
- The mechanic fee will automatically be paid
Remember, you need to have the cash on your character, not just in your bank account! The game will automatically pay the mechanic when the next in-game day rolls around.
Tips for Managing Mechanic Costs
While $50 a day isn’t much in the GTA economy, it’s good to stay on top of your finances. Here are some tips to avoid unpaid mechanic bills:
- Monitor your cash level to ensure it stays above $1000
- Deposit extra cash in the bank as a reserve if needed
- Take on profitable missions regularly to keep cash flowing
- Limit costly deaths and car replacements that drain your funds
- Sell valuable cars you don’t use for quick cash injections
- Rob stores and armored trucks when you need quick money
- Buy expensive properties that generate daily income
With these money management habits, that $50 daily fee will never be a problem!
Common Questions About Mechanic Payments
Can I Pay the Mechanic Manually?
Nope! There’s no way to directly pay your mechanic in GTA Online. You can’t call him up and offer payment, and there’s no special menu to send him cash. The system is completely automatic – just make sure you have enough money on your character, and the game handles the rest!
What If I Go Completely Broke?
We all hit rough patches! If you’re totally broke and can’t pay your mechanic, here are your options:
- Take on quick missions – Deliver a vehicle, rob a store, or sell some guns for fast cash
- Reset your character’s cash to $500 through Rockstar Social Club (enough to get started again)
- Ask a friend for help – Have them share mission proceeds with you
Just be sure to build back up your savings cushion afterward to avoid future problems. Your mechanic won’t work for IOUs or empty promises!
Do All Fees in GTA Online Work This Way?
Not exactly. While the mechanic fee is charged no matter what you’re doing, some other fees in GTA Online only apply under specific conditions. For example:
- Bunker and MC Business fees are only charged if you’re registered as a CEO or MC President
- Property utility bills work similarly to mechanic fees
- Insurance costs apply only when replacing destroyed personal vehicles
It’s smart to keep track of all your expenses to avoid cash flow issues!
Why the Mechanic is Worth Every Penny
Sure, paying bills in a video game might seem annoying, but your mechanic provides essential services that make GTA Online gameplay smoother:
- Vehicle delivery – Gets your favorite cars to you anywhere on the map
- Automatic repairs – Fixes up damaged vehicles without hassle
- Convenience – No need to drive back to your garage every time you want a different car
Honestly, $50 per in-game day is a steal for these services! Just think about how much you’d pay for a tow in real life.
Final Thoughts
Paying your mechanic bill in GTA 5 Online is super easy when you understand how the system works. As long as you maintain at least $1000 cash on your character, the fee is handled automatically in the background. Just keep earning money through missions, heists, and other profitable ventures, and you’ll never have to worry about your mechanic abandoning you.
Remember, a well-maintained relationship with your mechanic means your criminal empire can run smoothly! After all, what’s a successful criminal without their getaway car?
So keep that cash flowing, stay on top of your finances, and enjoy having your favorite vehicles delivered anywhere in Los Santos at the push of a button!

| FOXSOLID 10 years agoI went broke for a very short time…missed a payment and now the game is seemingly refusing to pay him. I cant request my car when I need it because of this s***. How the hell do they not allow you to manually pay him?? |
| VooDism 10 years agoYou need to wait a few days till you get the message. Used to happen to me all the time on old gen when i stashed my cash on and ALT to avoid paying insurance for blowing up other players PV. Just wait a few days… If you need your PV. Pull it out of the garage.. and use the blue marker jobs when you need it.. Step into one.. back out. Your PV will be there. |
| Super_Rodimus_Prime 10 years agoHow did you go broke? I single mission or selling a car would give you more than enough money to cover his fee.“Tell me, what kind of murderer uses a Samurai Slap!?”-Phoenix Wright |

You only need to wait one day. However it must be a full day in game in one continuous session. Going into missions and changing session will reset the timer.MGS5:TPP Custom Ruleset for End Game Freeroam http://goo.gl/aVHS8C |
| clarinet1 10 years agoTC, just play in free roam for a full 48 minutes. After which the game will automatically pay the mechanic again. |

The only way to get away from a loser in an Adder without using Passive mode and getting called a coward is blowing it up. That costs money. Alot of money. I think itd be alot better if you could just pay for it whenever by trying to use the mechanic/utilities.XBL : Z0mb13S0ldier – Most Played: Battlefield 3 PSN : D0ntTurnAr0und2 – Most Played: BOCW Steam : Joe Bidens Nose – Most Played: Rising Storm 2, Hell Let Loose |

Who cares if they call you a coward? If you do anything with people over the internet it is in your best interest to get thick skin and shrug people off. If you let them get to you, the terrorists win. >.>You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. – Psalm 16:11 (ESV) |
