Everything You Need to Know About Marysville Ohio Utility Bill Pay in 2025

Post date |

Are you a Marysville resident wondering how to pay your utility bill? Or maybe you’re new to town and trying to figure out the payment system? I’ve got you covered! As someone who’s navigated the Marysville utility billing system for years, I want to share everything you need to know about paying your utility bills in Marysville, Ohio – especially with the new 2025 fee changes

Big Changes for 2025: New Service Fees You Should Know About

Starting January 1, 2025, the City of Marysville has implemented service fees for credit/debit card and electronic check payments. This is a big change that affects how you might want to pay your bills.

Why did they make this change? Well, the City used to absorb all those processing fees charged by payment companies, but those costs have gone up a lot recently By implementing these fees, Marysville can use resources more effectively to improve services while staying financially responsible

Here’s what the new fees look like

  • Credit/Debit Card: 3.5% with a minimum of $2.50
  • E-Check: $0.95
  • 24/7 Pay-By-Phone: $0.40 (on top of card or e-check fee)

I was surprised when I first saw these fees, but when you think about it, most cities charge something similar now. For me, a $100 utility bill would cost $3.50 extra using a credit card – something to consider when choosing how to pay.

Fee-Free Payment Options (Yes, They Still Exist!)

Don’t want to pay those extra fees? I don’t blame you! Fortunately, you still have several options to pay your Marysville utility bill without any additional charges:

  • Cash Payments: Go to City Hall in person (209 S. Main Street)
  • Check Payments: Mail it or drop it off in person
  • Bank’s Online Bill Pay: Use your bank’s bill pay service

I personally switched to using my bank’s online bill pay service when the fees were announced. It takes a bit of setup the first time, but then it’s super convenient and doesn’t cost me anything extra!

Online Payment Options: Quick and Convenient

If you’re like me and prefer handling everything online (even with the new fees), here’s how to pay your Marysville utility bill online:

1. Quick Pay Option (No Login Required)

Sometimes you just need to make a quick payment without all the hassle. The Quick Pay option is perfect for this:

  1. Visit the Utility Billing portal
  2. Click “Quick pay”
  3. Have your account number ready (it’s on your bill)
  4. Follow the prompts to complete payment

This is my go-to when I’m in a hurry or when my parents visit and need help paying their bill.

2. Sign In/Register for an Account

For more features and convenience, I recommend creating an account:

  1. Visit the Utility Billing portal
  2. Click “Sign in or sign up”
  3. Create an account with your email and password
  4. Link your utility account using your account number

With an account, you can:

  • View detailed billing history
  • Manage multiple accounts
  • Set up multi-bill pay
  • Access e-Billing
  • Set up alerts (more on this below!)

Exciting New Feature: Smart Meter Access!

One of the coolest new features Marysville has added is Smart Meter Access through your online Utility Billing account. I was thrilled when they rolled this out because it gives you so much more control over your water usage.

With Smart Meter Access, you can:

  • View water usage data (monthly, daily, or even hourly!)
  • Set custom usage thresholds
  • Receive alerts for potential leaks
  • Get notified when you’re approaching billing thresholds

The water usage information updates 4 times daily, which is pretty impressive. It might not show data up to the current hour, but it’s still much better than waiting for your monthly bill to see how much water you’ve used.

To set up alerts:

  1. Login to your Utility Billing account
  2. Click on “Manage Alerts”
  3. Choose your preferred notification method (email, phone, or text)

Important note: This feature currently only works for residential services. If you have a commercial/multi-unit account with larger meters, the consumption figures might not be accurate yet. The city is aware of this issue and their vendor is working to fix it.

I set up leak alerts after my neighbor had a pipe burst last winter while they were on vacation. Better safe than sorry!

Other Payment Options Available

Besides online payments, Marysville offers several other ways to pay your utility bills:

If you need to pay income tax to Marysville, you can do this through the same online portal. Just select “Income Tax Payment” instead of “Utility Bill Payment.”

Additional Payments

The system also handles other types of payments like:

  • Parking tickets

Tips to Save on Your Marysville Utility Bills

Water Usage Tips

  1. Monitor your smart meter regularly – Catching unusual usage early can save you money
  2. Fix leaky faucets and toilets – Even small leaks add up over time
  3. Consider a secondary meter for outside water usage – Marysville offers this option, which can save on sewer charges for water used outside

Billing Tips

  1. Set up alerts – Get notified before your bill is due to avoid late fees
  2. Pay attention to due dates – Payments made after the due date are subject to additional penalties
  3. Choose payment methods wisely – Remember those new fees when deciding how to pay
