Ever felt the frustration of trying to pay your electric bill and getting stuck in a web of complicated processes? Trust me, I’ve been there too. As someone who’s been a Moon Lake Electric customer for years, I’ve figured out all the tricks to make bill payments as painless as possible.
Let’s be real – nobody enjoys paying bills, but at least Moon Lake Electric has made it convenient with multiple payment options. Whether you’re a tech-savvy person who loves doing everything online or someone who prefers the traditional methods they’ve got you covered!
Who is Moon Lake Electric Association?
Before diving into payment methods let me quickly introduce Moon Lake Electric. They’re an electric cooperative serving communities in Utah and Colorado. Their headquarters is in Roosevelt Utah, with additional offices in Duchesne, Utah, and Rangely, Colorado.
As a cooperative, Moon Lake Electric is actually owned by its members (that’s you if you’re a customer!). This means they’re focused on providing reliable service rather than making profits for shareholders. Pretty cool, right?
The 5 Best Ways to Pay Your Moon Lake Electric Bill
1. Online Payment through SmartHub
This is my personal favorite method! Moon Lake Electric offers online bill payment through their SmartHub platform. It’s super convenient and available 24/7.
How to pay online:
- Create an account on SmartHub
- Log in to your account
- View your current bill
- Make a payment using your preferred method
- Get a confirmation of your payment
The SmartHub app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, making it easy to manage your account from your smartphone or tablet.
2. Automatic Payment Options
Tired of remembering to pay your bill every month? Same here! That’s why I switched to automatic payments.
Moon Lake Electric offers an Automated Payment System that automatically deducts your payment from your chosen payment method on the bill’s due date. You can set up automatic payments using:
- Credit card drafting
- Bank account drafting
To set this up, call Moon Lake Electric at (888) 688-6532 or visit one of their offices.
3. Pay by Phone
Sometimes technology fails us (we’ve all been there!). When that happens, you can always pay your bill by phone.
Simply call the automated system at 1(844) 965-1340 and follow the prompts. You’ll need your account number and a credit or debit card.

Equal Payment Plan
One of my favorite features Moon Lake Electric offers is the Equal Payment Plan. If you’re like me and hate those crazy high summer air conditioning bills or winter heating bills, this plan is perfect!
The Equal Payment Plan averages your power consumption based on the previous 12 months, so you pay the same amount every month. This makes budgeting so much easier!
Important details:
- Sign-up period: April 1st through July 31st
- Based on previous 12 months’ usage
- Contact (888) 688-6532 for more information
Pay Now for Someone Else
Need to help out a family member with their electric bill? Moon Lake Electric allows you to apply money to someone else’s account if you know their name and account number. If you don’t know the account number, you can call any Moon Lake Electric office to make a payment on someone else’s account.
This feature came in handy when my elderly neighbor was struggling with her bills last winter. I was able to help her out without any hassle.
Gift Certificates
Looking for a practical gift idea? Moon Lake Electric offers gift certificates that can be purchased in any denomination and used to pay any Moon Lake Electric bill. The certificates are personalized with the recipient’s name and can be given anonymously if desired.

Credit Card Rewards – A Hidden Benefit!
Here’s a little-known tip I discovered – you can earn rewards by paying your Moon Lake Electric bill with a rewards credit card! Depending on your credit card, you might earn:
- Airline miles
- Cash back
- Other incentives
I’ve been using my cashback card for years to pay my electric bill, and those rewards add up over time!

My Experience with Moon Lake Electric Bill Pay
I’ve been a Moon Lake customer for over 5 years now, and I’ve tried pretty much all these payment methods. Initially, I was mailing checks (and occasionally forgetting, oops!), but once I discovered the SmartHub app, everything became so much simpler.
Now I can check my usage, pay my bill, and even report outages right from my phone. The Equal Payment Plan has also been a lifesaver for budgeting – no more surprise $200+ bills during heat waves!
Tips for Reducing Your Moon Lake Electric Bill
While we’re on the topic of paying your electric bill, why not talk about ways to reduce it? Here are some simple tips I’ve tried that actually work:
- Adjust your thermostat: Even 1-2 degrees can make a big difference
- Switch to LED bulbs: They use way less electricity than traditional bulbs
- Unplug electronics when not in use: Many devices continue to draw power even when turned off
- Use smart power strips: These cut power to devices that aren’t in use
- Consider enrolling in energy efficiency programs: Moon Lake Electric may offer rebates for energy-efficient appliances
