With SmartHub, you can:

  • Pay your bill immediately with secure online payments
  • View your electricity usage (daily and hourly!)
  • Track your payment history
  • Report outages directly from the app
  • Sign up for notifications via email or text

Quick Payment Options When You’re in a Hurry

Pay Now

Sometimes I just want to pay my bill quickly without logging into anything. That’s where the “Pay Now” option comes in handy. All you need is:

  • Your Wake Electric account number
  • The first 5 letters of your last name or business name
  • Your payment information

The best part? You can make partial payments if needed, and you’ll get a confirmation receipt that you can print or email to yourself.

Pay by Phone

Wake Electric offers two phone payment options:

I personally prefer the dedicated line because it’s usually faster, but both work great!

Another option is paying at Western Union locations. The minimum payment is $25.00, and there’s a $1.50 processing fee. Like with Walmart, make your payment at least five business days before the due date.

MoneyGram

MoneyGram is one of Wake Electric’s newest payment methods. You can find MoneyGram kiosks in over 40,000 U.S. retailers like CVS and Walmart.

When using MoneyGram, remember:

  • The receipt number for Wake Electric members is 15417
  • Payment options vary by location (ask an associate for help)
  • There may be a small transaction fee
  • You’ll need cash or PIN debit (at Walmart) and your account number

Bank Draft

I switched to bank draft last year, and it’s been life-changing! Here are the benefits:

The draft date options depend on your bill’s due date:

Budget billing spreads your bills into 11 equal monthly payments, with the 12th month as a “settling up” month. It helps you plan ahead by knowing exactly what your monthly payment will be.

To be eligible:

  • Your account must have had service for at least 12 months
  • Your current account balance must be $0.00

Levelized Billing

This is similar to budget billing, but each monthly bill is the rolling average of your electric usage for the most recent 12 months. Your bill changes only slightly from month to month, even during the coldest and hottest months.

Requirements are the same as budget billing:

  • 12 months of service
  • $0.00 current balance

PowerUp – PrePay Billing

This is one of the most innovative options Wake Electric offers! PowerUp is a pay-as-you-go billing option that gives you complete control.

With PowerUp:

  • There’s no deposit required
  • No late fees, trip charges, or reconnect fees
  • No cost to switch to the PowerUp rate
  • Existing deposits can be used for down payments
  • You can view electric usage, payment history, and credit balances
  • You’ll get reminders when your balance is low
