If you prefer the traditional route, you can mail your payment to:
PO Box 777

Just remember that your payment must reach their office by the due date! Dawson PPD isn’t responsible for mail delays, so plan ahead. I try to mail my payment at least 5 days before the due date just to be safe.

- Pay with cash at the store’s checkout

I’ve used this at my local grocery store when I needed to make a cash payment but didn’t have time to go to the Dawson office.
The Prepaid Account Option: Pay As You Go
Dawson PPD offers a prepaid metering service, which is perfect for those who want more control over their electricity spending:
How it works:
- Pay for electricity before you use it
- Monitor your balance through an app, internet, or phone system
- Your bill is calculated daily
- Pay on your schedule – daily, weekly, or monthly
Getting Started:
- Costs $125 to start ($50 deposit + $75 for power)
- You’ll receive alerts when your balance drops below $20
- If your balance reaches $0, service disconnects at noon on business days
- No reconnect fees, but payment must bring balance to $50+ credit
This option is available to Dawson PPD customers on the General Service and General Service-Electric Heat rates. If you’re a renter, you’ll need approval from your landlord.
I haven’t personally tried the prepaid option, but my neighbor swears by it. She says it helps her budget better and be more mindful of her electricity usage.

My Experience with Dawson Public Power Bill Pay
I’ve been a Dawson PPD customer for over 8 years now, and I’ve tried most of these payment methods. Initially, I mailed my payments, but I occasionally forgot and ended up paying late fees. Then I switched to the SmartHub app, which made everything much easier!
Last winter when we had that terrible ice storm and I lost power, I called their customer service line to report the outage. The representative mentioned I could check the Power Outage Map on their website to see restoration progress. While we were talking, she also reminded me about the auto-pay option, which I signed up for right away.
Now I don’t worry about paying my bill on time anymore – it’s automatically deducted from my account. The SmartHub app still lets me keep an eye on my usage, which came in handy when my bill was unexpectedly high last summer. Turns out my old air conditioner was the culprit! I ended up replacing it and even got a rebate from Dawson PPD.

While Dawson PPD does not generate power, we are interested in renewable energy resources and the benefits they offer our customers.
Dawson PPD purchases power from Nebraska Public Power District. NPPD uses renewable resources such as wind and hydro to provide power to the state’s farms, homes and businesses. To obtain more information about their generating resources and their plans for renewable energy in the future, visit NPPD’s website.
