As a homeowner in the Valley View Sewer District area I’ve had my fair share of confusion about paying my sewer bill. Let me tell you nothing ruins a perfectly good day like discovering a late fee on your utility bill! That’s why I’ve put together this comprehensive guide on Valley View sewer bill pay options to help you avoid those pesky fees and keep your service running smoothly.
Understanding Your Valley View Sewer Bill
Before diving into payment methods, let’s clarify what you’re actually paying for. Valley View Sewer District bills residential customers on a bimonthly basis, while commercial customers receive monthly bills. These charges cover:
- Treatment of sewage
- Maintenance of sewer lines
- Operation of the entire system
Your bill comes with a specific due date, and all payments must be received in full by 5 00 PM on that date. Missing this deadline results in a 10% late fee, which nobody wants!
4 Ways to Pay Your Valley View Sewer Bill
Valley View Sewer District offers several convenient payment options to fit your preferences. I’ve tried most of these methods and can share the pros and cons of each.
1. Online Payment Through Invoice Cloud
This is my personal favorite method because I can pay from the comfort of my couch!
How it works
- Visit the Valley View payment portal and click on “Pay on-line here”
- Follow the prompts to complete your payment
- Service fees apply:
- E-Check: $1.00 service charge
- Debit/Credit Card: $3.95 service charge (for payments up to $400)
Pro tip: Invoice Cloud also offers text message alerts and payment options, which is super convenient if you’re always on your phone like me.
2. Automatic Payments (Auto Pay)
This is perfect for those of us who sometimes forget due dates.
How it works:
- Contact Valley View Sewer District for information
- Print and fill out the authorization form
- Return the form to the district office with a voided check
- Your payment will be automatically withdrawn from your checking or savings account
My experience: This has saved me from late fees more than once! Just make sure you keep enough money in your account on bill days.
3. Mail-In Payments
For those who prefer the traditional route.
How it works:
- Mail your check or money order to:
Valley View Sewer District
PO Box 69550
Seattle, WA 98168 - Make checks payable to: Valley View Sewer District
- Allow 4-5 business days for delivery
Important reminder: The District charges a $20 fee for returned checks, so double-check your account balance!
4. In-Person Payments
Sometimes I prefer the old-school approach of paying in person.
How it works:
- Visit the District office at 3460 S 148th Suite 100, Seattle, WA 98168
- Pay using cash, check, or money order
- After-hours drop box is available near the flag pole
Warning: Valley View is not responsible for cash payments left in the drop box. I’d never risk leaving cash in there!
Going Paperless: Electronic Billing Options
Tired of paper bills cluttering your counter? Me too! Valley View offers an electronic billing option:
- Complete the “Request for Electronic Paperless Billing” form
- Submit it to Valley View
- Start receiving your bills via email
I switched to paperless billing last year and love how it helps reduce waste while ensuring I never miss a bill.
Important Billing Policies You Should Know
As the property owner, there are several key policies you should understand:
Late Payments and Consequences
If you’re late paying your bill, here’s what happens:
- 10% late fee for payments received after the due date
- Delinquencies exceeding 2 billing periods result in a LIEN being filed against your property
I learned this the hard way once – trust me, you don’t want a lien on your property!
Property Owner Responsibility
This is super important to understand:
- The property owner is legally responsible for all charges
- Sewer charges remain with the property even if ownership changes
- If you sell your property, you must arrange payment of previous charges with the buyer
Tenant Billing Options
If you’re a landlord, you can have your tenant receive the bill directly:
- Complete a Duplicate Billing form
- Submit it to the District office
- Your tenant will receive the bill, but you’ll still get a duplicate copy
- Remember: You’re still ultimately responsible for payment
Frequently Asked Questions
When is my Valley View sewer bill due?
Your bill is due in full by 5:00 PM on the due date shown on your statement. Make sure to check each bill for the specific date.
What happens if I miss the due date?
Late payments incur a 10% penalty fee. If you’re more than 2 billing periods behind, Valley View may file a lien against your property.
Can I make partial payments?
The District requires full payment by the due date. Partial payments may still result in late fees on the remaining balance.
How can I check my account balance?
You can contact Valley View Sewer District directly at (206) 242-3236 or email them at [email protected].
I just moved in – how do I set up service?
Since sewer charges stay with the property, you don’t technically need to “set up” service. However, you should contact Valley View to update the billing information to your name.
Special Circumstances: What If I’m Struggling to Pay?
We’ve all faced tough financial times, especially in recent years. If you’re having difficulty paying your sewer bill, Valley View offers a Utility Assistance Program. This program provides help to qualifying customers who need assistance with their bills.
To learn more about this program, visit the “Utility Assistance Program” section on their website or contact their customer service.

My Personal Experience with Valley View Sewer Billing
When I first moved to the area, I was confused about how the billing worked. I kept waiting for a “first bill” to establish service like with other utilities. Eventually, I called and learned that the sewer service automatically transfers with property ownership.
Once I understood the system, I found the Valley View staff to be helpful and their payment options convenient. I personally prefer the online payment system despite the small fee – the convenience is worth it to me!
Tips for Never Missing a Payment
Here’s what works for me:
- Set calendar reminders 5 days before the due date
- Sign up for paperless billing to get email notifications
- Consider auto-pay if you have a stable bank account
- Keep the Valley View phone number in your contacts for quick questions
Final Thoughts
Keeping up with your Valley View sewer bill doesn’t have to be complicated. Whether you prefer paying online, through automatic withdrawal, by mail, or in person, there’s an option that works for your lifestyle.
Remember, the most important thing is paying your bill on time to avoid that 10% late fee. I’ve found that setting up electronic “paperless” billing combined with calendar reminders works best for me, but everyone’s different!
What’s your preferred way to pay your Valley View sewer bill? Have you tried their online payment system yet? It’s definitely made my life easier!

As of January 1st, 2025 the General Facilities Charge for Valley View Sewer District is $7,510.00
June 30th, 2025 will be the last day to pay current GFC prices.
Valley View Sewer District hired the FCS Group to perform a Study on its General Facilities Charge (GFC). The Study has now been completed. The GFC is a connection charge that applies to all new connections, such as new Single-Family, Multifamily, and Commercial connections to the sewer system. The GFC is collected to ensure each new connection pays its equitable share of the cost of the sewer system. Read the FCS Group report here.
The current GFC for a reduced Multifamily / ADU is $6,008.00. Most but not all ADU’s and Multifamily units qualify for the reduced charge. Multifamily units larger than 1,500 sq ft and ADU’s larger than 1,000 sq ft will be charged at the normal rate.
GFC classifications will increase in two more stages. The GFC for Single-Family Residences will increase to:
$10,985 on July 1, 2025
$14,460 effective July 1, 2026
The GFC increases ensure rehabilitation projects identified in the Comprehensive Sewer Plan are responsibly funded using a combination of GFC revenue and rate revenue collected from monthly sewer bills.
