Have you ever been rushing around at the last minute trying to pay your Brownsville Public Utilities Board bill? I’ve been there, and it’s no fun! As someone who’s lived in Brownsville for years, I wanted to share all the different ways you can pay your BPUB bill without the stress.
The Brownsville PUB offers numerous payment options to fit your schedule and preferences. Whether you’re tech-savvy or prefer traditional methods, they’ve got you covered. Let’s explore all the ways you can keep your utilities current!
Online Payment Options
BPUB’s payment processor, InvoiceCloud, provides several convenient online payment options:
- One-time payments – Perfect for those who prefer to manually pay each month
- Scheduled payments – Set it up once for future dated payments
- Pay-by-text – Super convenient if you’re always on your phone
- Auto-Pay – The “set it and forget it” option
To pay online, you’ll need to log into your BPUB account first (except for one-time express payments)
Important Credit Card Information
⚠️ New Merchant Service Charge Alert Starting October 1, 2024, all credit/debit card transactions will incur a minimum service charge of $250 or 195% (whichever is greater).
Credit and debit card payments have a maximum limit of $1,000 per transaction. BPUB accepts VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express.
How to Avoid Fees
To avoid the new credit card merchant fees, you can use these FREE payment methods:
- E-Check: Pay directly from your bank account
- ACH Payments: Enroll in automatic bank account withdrawals
- Cash Payments: Pay at designated BPUB locations
Setting Up AutoPay
Auto Pay is super handy – no more waiting in line, writing checks, or last-minute bill paying stress. You can set it up using a credit/debit card or checking account.
Remember that $1,000 credit/debit card limit though! If your monthly bill usually exceeds that threshold, I’d recommend using a checking account instead.
How to Sign Up for AutoPay or ACH
For AutoPay (E-Check):
- Access your BPUB account
- Select “Pay Online” from the Payment Options tab
- From the “My Profile” dropdown, go to payment methods
- Select the ACH payment method
For ACH Payments:
- Fill out the ACH Authorization Form (available in English or Spanish)
- Sign the form to authorize monthly withdrawals
- Attach a voided check to verify your account information
- Submit everything to BPUB (email to [email protected] or in person)
Phone Payments
If you prefer paying by phone, BPUB’s automated system is available 24/7:
- Dial (956) 983-6121
- Follow the Customer Service Menu prompts
- Make a payment immediately
Note: Phone payments made through the automated system will have a $0.95 third-party processing surcharge. Monthly transaction limits are $10,000 for electronic checks and $1,000 for credit/debit cards.
In-Person Payment Options
Payment Stations

Drive-Up Window
For quick in-person payments, use one of five drive-thru lanes behind the BPUB Administration Building:
- Location: 1425 Robinhood Dr.

Drop Box
BPUB has replaced their drive-thru dropbox with a drop slot under the drive-up kiosk. There’s also a walk-up drop box at the front of the main building.
Important notes about the drop box:
- Always include your bill stub and account number on checks/money orders
- Payments dropped after 3:00 p.m. process the next business day
- Do NOT leave cash in the dropbox
- Avoid using the dropbox if you have a pending disconnect order
Mail Payments
You can mail payments in the return envelope provided or address your own envelope to:
Brownsville PUBP.O. Box 660566Dallas, TX 75266-0566
Pro tip: Mail payments at least five days before the due date to allow for postal delays. BPUB processes payments on the day received, not by postmark date.

My Experience With BPUB Bill Pay
I’ve personally found the AutoPay option to be the most convenient. I set it up with my checking account (to avoid the transaction limit issues), and now I never worry about missing a payment. The online portal is pretty user-friendly too – I can check my usage history and see when payments were processed.
For those who aren’t comfortable with online payments, I’ve heard good things about the drive-thru service. My neighbor uses it regularly and says the lines move quickly during non-peak hours.
Paying your Brownsville PUB bill doesn’t have to be stressful! With so many payment options available, you can choose what works best for your lifestyle and preferences. Just remember those new credit card fees coming in October 2024, and plan accordingly if you want to avoid extra charges.
What’s your preferred way to pay your BPUB bill? Have you tried their online system yet? Whatever method you choose, staying current on utility payments keeps those essential services flowing to your home without interruption.
