Post date |

Our mobile app is designed to give you fast, secure account access so you can easily manage your account details, view your bill and your account balance, make payments and find payment locations, schedule alerts and reminders, and stay connected with us via Facebook and Twitter. Nearly everything you can do from our “Member Service Portal” can now be handled instantly whether you’re at home or on the go.

Let’s be honest – paying bills isn’t anyone’s favorite activity. But with Carroll EMC’s various bill payment options, the process doesn’t have to be a headache As a Carroll EMC member myself, I’ve tried almost all their payment methods over the years, and I’m excited to share what I’ve learned to help you choose the most convenient option for your needs.

What is Carroll EMC?

Carroll Electric Membership Cooperative (EMC) is a not-for-profit, consumer-owned business serving more than 52,000 residential, commercial, and industrial accounts Their service area covers seven western Georgia counties – Carroll, Haralson, Heard, Paulding, Polk, Troup, and Floyd

Being a cooperative means we members actually own the utility That’s why they work hard to provide convenient services like multiple bill payment options – they’re working for us!

Carroll EMC Bill Pay Options at a Glance

Carroll EMC understands that different members have different preferences when it comes to paying bills. That’s why they’ve developed several convenient methods:

  • Online Member Portal
  • Mobile App
  • Automatic Drafts
  • Text-To-Pay
  • Automated Phone System
  • In-Person/Drive-Thru Payments
  • Mail/Drop Box
  • Paysite Kiosks

Let’s dive into each of these options so you can pick what works best for you.

Online Bill Payment Options

Member Portal

The Member Services Portal at billing.cemc.com/onlineportal/ is probably the most convenient way to pay your Carroll EMC bill. Through the portal, you can:

  • Make one-time payments
  • Schedule future payments
  • View billing history
  • Track usage history
  • Set up automatic payments
  • Create payment arrangements

The portal accepts credit/debit cards (Visa and MasterCard) and e-checks. It’s secure, reliable, and available 24/7.

One cool feature is “Quick Pay” which allows you to make payments without logging into the portal. This saves time when you’re in a hurry!

Mobile App

Carroll EMC’s FREE mobile app makes managing your account super simple. You can download it from the Apple App Store or Google Play by searching for “Carroll EMC.”

With the app, you can:

  • View bills
  • Make payments
  • Manage alerts and reminders
  • Receive notifications
  • Report power outages

I personally love using the app because I can pay my bill while waiting in line at the grocery store or sitting on my couch – no need to be at my computer.

Text-To-Pay

This is perhaps the quickest payment method Carroll EMC offers! Once you’ve set up a credit card or e-check profile on the mobile app or online portal and verified your cell number, you can simply text “PAY” to 352667.

Pro tip: Save this number in your phone contacts as “Carroll EMC Payment” so you don’t have to remember the number each time!

Automatic Payment Options

Bank Draft

If you’re forgetful like me and sometimes miss due dates, automatic bank drafts can be a lifesaver. With bank draft, your bill is automatically paid from your checking or savings account on the due date.

You’ll still receive a statement about 14 days before the draft date. The best part? You get a $2.50 credit each month when you sign up – that’s $30 saved per year!

To enroll:

  1. Call 770-832-3552, OR
  2. Complete the Bank Draft Application
  3. Mail it or bring it to a Carroll EMC office
  4. Bring a check to provide accurate banking info

Credit/Debit Card Draft

Similar to bank draft, this option automatically charges your credit or debit card on the due date. You’ll still get a statement 14 days before payment.

One thing to note – unlike bank draft, the credit/debit card option doesn’t qualify for the $2.50 monthly credit.

Important: Carroll EMC can’t set up credit/debit card drafts over the phone due to privacy reasons. You’ll need to complete and submit the Credit Card Draft Application.

Phone Payment Options

Automated Phone System

Don’t have internet access or prefer speaking on the phone? Carroll EMC’s automated phone system is available 24/7 at 770-832-3552 (option 2).

You can pay using:

  • Credit/debit cards (Visa or MasterCard) with no transaction limit
  • E-check (electronic checking) with no convenience fees

For credit/debit payments, have your account number, card details, and payment amount ready. For e-check, you’ll need your bank routing number, account number, phone number, and account type (checking/savings).

Traditional Payment Methods

In-Person/Drive-Thru

Sometimes it’s nice to speak with a real person when making payments. Carroll EMC maintains three office locations:

  1. Carrollton Main Office: 155 N. Highway 113, Carrollton, GA 30117
  2. Buchanan Office: 3161 South US-27 BUS, Buchanan, GA 30113
  3. Franklin Office: 106 Davis St., Franklin, GA 30217 (on town square)

These offices have both inside service counters and convenient drive-thru windows.

Mail/Drop Box

You can always mail your payment to:
Carroll EMC
155 N. Highway 113
Carrollton, GA 30117

Or use the 24-hour drop boxes located at all three offices.

Paysite Kiosks

Carroll EMC has paysite kiosks located throughout their service area. These self-service payment stations allow you to pay your bill when office locations are closed. Hours vary by location.

Important Member Notices About Bill Payments

There are a few things Carroll EMC wants members to be aware of:

  1. One-time scheduled payments are not payment arrangements – If you schedule a payment after the due date through the portal, you’ll still incur late fees. If scheduled after the disconnection date, service may be disconnected.

  2. Double payments can happen – If you make a payment before your scheduled one-time payment goes through, you MUST cancel the scheduled payment in the portal or you’ll be charged twice.

  3. Payment arrangements – For true payment arrangements, call 770-832-3552 (Option 2 then Option 4) or use the website/mobile app.

Other Helpful Carroll EMC Services

While browsing the Carroll EMC website, I discovered some other useful services they offer:

Operation Round Up®

This program rounds your bill up to the next dollar, with the extra change going to charitable causes. For example, if your bill is $94.33, it would be rounded to $95, with the $0.67 going to charity. It’s tax-deductible, and they track your donations for you.

E-Billing

You can sign up for paperless billing to help preserve the environment.

PrePay and Levelized Billing

Carroll EMC offers alternative billing methods like PrePay (pay-as-you-go) and Levelized Billing (which averages your usage to create more consistent monthly bills).

How to Get Help With Your Carroll EMC Account

Need assistance? Carroll EMC offers several support options:

  • Phone: 770-832-3552
  • Email: [email protected]
  • Live Chat: Available through their website
  • Social Media: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube

My Experience With Carroll EMC Bill Pay

I’ve been a Carroll EMC member for years, and I’ve gotta say their bill pay options have gotten WAY better. When I first moved to the area, I was mailing checks (so outdated!). Then I discovered their online portal, which was a gamechanger.

Last year, I switched to automatic bank draft and it’s been the best decision. No more forgotten bills, plus I get that sweet $2.50 monthly credit. That’s a free coffee every couple months just for setting up auto-pay!

The one time I did have an issue with a payment, their customer service was super helpful. I called, only waited about 3 minutes, and the representative fixed everything right away.
