Are you tired of standing in long lines just to pay your water bill? Maybe you’ve gotten one too many late fees because you forgot when your bill was due? Well I’ve been there too and that’s why I’m sharing everything I’ve learned about the City of Alamogordo bill pay options today!
As a resident of Alamogordo for over 8 years, I’ve tried pretty much every payment method they offer. Trust me when I say online payment has made my life SO much easier. Let’s dive into all the ways you can pay your utility bill, plus some helpful tips I’ve learned along the way.
What Utilities Does the City of Alamogordo Bill For?
Before we jump into payment methods let’s clarify what you’re actually paying for
- Water service
- Sewer service
- Reclaimed water service
It’s important to note that the City of Alamogordo Government does not handle gas and electricity billing. Those services are provided by:
- Electricity: PNM
- Natural Gas: New Mexico Gas Company
Recent Updates to Water, Sewer, and Reclaimed Water Rates
Heads up! The city adopted new rates for water, sewer, and reclaimed water services in Resolution No. 2024-31 on June 25, 2024. These changes followed the City of Alamogordo Utility Rate Study by GovRates, Inc., which was completed on May 6, 2024.
I’d recommend checking the official rates on the city website if you’re curious about how these changes might affect your monthly bill
Ways to Pay Your Alamogordo Utility Bill
1. Pay Online Through the Official Portal
The easiest way to pay your bill is through the official City of Alamogordo Portal at https://alamogordo.billingdoc.net/.
You have two main options here:
- Create an Account: This allows you to view your billing history, set up auto-payments, and manage your account.
- One-Time Payment: Perfect if you just want to make a quick payment without creating an account.
Important Note: ALL PAYMENTS ARE POSTED NEXT BUSINESS DAY. So don’t panic if you don’t see your payment reflected immediately!
2. Set Up Auto-Pay
This has been a life-saver for me! No more forgetting to pay bills. Here’s what the city recommends for setting up auto-pay:
- DO NOT use your bill date as the pay date – bill generation dates vary by 3-6 days each month
- DO SET your pay date +/- 5 days from your due date
- DO monitor your account online regularly
Remember that bills are due 15 days after the bill date and don’t incur a late fee until 25 days after the bill date.
3. Pay In Person
If you prefer the old-fashioned way (sometimes I do!), you can pay in person at:
Physical Address:
1376 E Ninth Street
Alamogordo, NM 88310
4. Pay by Phone
You can also pay by calling Customer Service at 575-439-4260.
Understanding Your Billing Cycle
One thing that confused me when I first moved here was the billing cycle. The City of Alamogordo uses cycle billing, which means your billing date can vary from month to month by 3-6 days depending on your address.
This variation helps the city avoid generating bills on weekends or holidays. So don’t be surprised if your bill comes on the 10th one month and the 15th the next!
What to Do If Your Water Gets Disconnected
If your water has been disconnected for non-payment (we’ve all been there!), don’t just make an online payment and wait. You need to call Customer Service at (575) 439-4260 to inform them of your recent payment so they can restore service.
Monitor Your Water Usage with AquaHawk
One cool feature that’s helped me catch a leaky toilet before it became an expensive problem is AquaHawk water usage monitoring. The city offers this service to help you keep track of your water consumption.
Outdoor Watering Schedule
Alamogordo has specific outdoor watering schedules to conserve water. Following these rules not only helps our community but also prevents you from getting unnecessary fines!

My Personal Experience with Alamogordo Bill Pay
When I first moved to Alamogordo, I used to drive down to the utility office every month to pay my bill in person. Such a waste of time! Then I tried mailing checks, but sometimes they’d arrive late, and I’d get hit with fees.
Finally, I set up auto-pay about 3 years ago, and it’s been smooth sailing ever since. I have mine set to pay 10 days after my bill date, which gives me time to review the charges but still pays well before any late fees kick in.
The one time I had an unusually high bill (turned out my sprinkler system had a leak), customer service was super helpful in explaining the charges and even giving me tips on checking for leaks.
Final Thoughts
Paying your City of Alamogordo utility bill doesn’t have to be a hassle. With online payments, auto-pay options, and helpful customer service, it’s easier than ever to stay on top of your water bills.
