Trash, Yard Waste, Recycling & Sewer Services

New residents of Lansing should come to City Hall at 800 First Terrace to set up trash, recycling and sewer service. A $75 deposit is required but is refundable after one year as long as the account is in good standing. The city offers automatic withdrawal from your bank account. Please provide a voided check to begin payment with this service. Residents moving out of Lansing should contact City Hall at 913-727-3233 to close an account.

Sewer, Trash, Yard Waste and Recycling are all included in one statement. Statements are mailed around the 5th of the month and are due by the 25th of the month. If the balance is not paid by the 25th, a delinquent fee of 10 percent will be added.

Payments (cash, check or money order) can be mailed or placed in our drop box at City Hall, through the city website or can be called in directly. A convenience fee of 2.5% is applied to credit card payments.

The city also offers Automatic Payment Withdrawal. Payment withdrawals will be made between the 18th and 21st of each month. Please provide a voided check to begin payment with this service.

The city mails out quarterly delinquency notices. The city will assess the property tax rolls for property owners who have accounts that are 60 days delinquent or more. Renters with accounts that are 60 days delinquent or more will be submitted to a collection agency.
