The NYSDOH and USEPA recently reviewed the MCWA’s compliance with the Lead and Copper Rule and concluded that in 1998, NYSDOH incorrectly approved the MCWA system’s designation as being optimized for corrosion control. The NYSDOH has now revoked that approval and issued the MCWA a violation for failure to have optimal corrosion control treatment in place. Nothing has changed with regard to water quality or lead levels in the samples we collect.
