Understanding Billing Options
Coast Electric offers several billing options to help manage your payments better:
Levelized Billing
This option allows you to pay approximately the same amount each month, based on an average of your actual monthly consumption for a one-year period. To qualify, you need to have had power at your current address for at least 12 months.
Here’s how it works:
- Coast Electric takes your current month’s usage
- Adds it to the last 11 months of usage
- Divides by 12 to arrive at your average monthly payment amount
Prepay Metering
This is like filling up your car with gas – you purchase energy when you need it on a pay-as-you-go basis. It’s perfect for those who:
- Want more control over their energy costs
- Prefer to make smaller, more frequent payments
- Want to avoid deposits or monthly bills
Budget Billing
With budget billing, your energy costs are the same each month. Coast Electric looks at your previous year’s energy use and averages those costs, which becomes your monthly payment amount.
The amount is recalculated each February, and your bill will be adjusted up or down depending on your energy use patterns. To qualify, you need to have had power at your current address for at least 12 months.

Coast Electric offers several additional services to help members manage their accounts:
